The Exploration Technical Services Department is seeking a top Carbonate or Clastic Sedimentologist to join their world class team.
The successful candidate will have a specialized background in Carbonate or Clastic sedimentology. Significant practical experience of assessing reservoir quality of exploration wells by performing core descriptions is required.
You will have experience in both conventional and unconventional core descriptions, developing basin and reservoir exploration models, and 3-D static geological models will be required.
Candidates will be expected have strong sequence stratigraphic analytic ability, and knowledge of current industry trends, practices and technologies in sedimentology.
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor's degree in Geology. A Masters Degree or PHD is preferred.
You will have a minimum of 10 years' oil and gas industry experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate you will be required to demonstrate a sound understanding of associated subsurface disciplines (geophysics, biostratigraphy, chemo stratigraphy, petro physics, structural geology and reservoir geology).
You will be responsible for the development of basin and reservoir exploration models, and 3-D static geological models.
The incumbent will conduct detailed sedimentological investigations, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to support asset evaluations.
Other duties include data Integration using 2D/3D Seismic, Gravity, Magnetic, wireline logs, core, specialist geological techniques - SEM, XRD, chemo stratigraphy, isotopes, and biostratigraphy to provide analysis of well data in terms of sedimentary architecture, facies, and depositional environments.
A proven record of working within multi-disciplinary project teams, and the ability to provide sedimentological advice, and input is preferred.
The ability and willingness to mentor co-workers in applying sedimentological principles to wider geological issues is desired.
