Position Description:
We are seeking a Communications Specialist to join the Corporate Affairs’ Public Relations Strategy & Coordination Unit of the Public Relations Department.

The Communications Specialist primary role is to identify alignment needs between stakeholder expectations and corporate business goals, to plan and develop English language corporate-level messaging content, as well as support the PR Strategy team in the activities necessary to manage the annual communications planning cycle, conduct research and analysis, and produce an updated corporate communications plan on an annual basis, in addition to continuous messaging updates on developing issues.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, or a related field from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.

You will have 10 or more years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant experience gained from either an agency or in-house communications setting — ideally with a global major in the energy, oil, gas, and chemicals sectors, but not necessary.

A successful candidate must be a native English speaker with excellent English oral and written communications abilities.

You will have the ability to communicate and present confidently.

You will have strong business acumen and understanding of strategic drivers, including experience working with developing and/or communicating corporate-level business strategies.
You will be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives, and respond swiftly to changing situations and tight deadlines.
You will be able to simplify complex issues, and act sensitively on confidential issues.

You must have strong interpersonal and proven teamwork skills..

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:

Plan, develop, and produce English language content for all corporate communications plans, related communications products, and messaging briefs.

Create corporate messaging sets based on an understanding of company commercial and societal strategies.

Adjust messaging as necessary in response to shifts in the company’s operational landscape.

Produce content and messaging for internal engagements, workshops, presentations, updated versions of corporate communications plans, updates to the messaging guides, and other communications products used to convey the plan and its objectives to management, create buy-in from company communicators, and to align corporate communications plans to the company’s strategic objectives.

Develop core support materials required for communications plans, briefing documents, etc.

Confidently interact with senior and executive management to adapt, refine, improve, and implement new guidance concerning corporate communications plans.

Create and present content in for both large and small groups in both presentations as well as workshop sessions.
