We are seeking a Cost Engineer to join the Planning and Support Group (PS&G) of Community Services Projects & Technical Support (CSPTS).
The Planning and Support Group is responsible for providing planning and technical support to CSPTS Departments, such as Utilities & Technical Support Dept. (UTSD); Community Services Projects Dept. (CSPD); Home Ownership Community Development Dept.; and King Abdullah Sports City Operations Dept. (KASCO).
The Cost Engineer’s primary role is to prepare, review, analyze and monitor cost commitments and forecasts costs associate with Capital Expenditure program. The role involves support to departments on project expenditure, cost forecasts, monitoring and analysis of cost data to summarize into executive level reports.
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management, Business Administration, Accounting or closely related fields. An advanced degree is acceptable.
You will have Seven (7) years’ experience in Project Cost processes and procedures including at least four (4) years in estimating and cost engineering related to Construction work in commercial, light industrial, institutional, residential development projects and or multifamily residential projects.
You must have working knowledge in cost methods including preliminary and final costs.
You must have experience in planning and budgeting Major Capital and non-capital projects.
Related experience as part of construction/project management or Architects/Engineers offices is necessary.
International experience is highly desirable.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Prepare, monitor and analyze cost data for major capital projects and capital expenditures.
Develop preliminary and budgetary estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzes of important cost metrics.
Review capital projects cost and participate in cost evaluations with Project Engineers.
Assist Project Engineers and Cost Engineers with preparation of contract costs.
Conducts research to obtain market cost data on labor costs, materials and equipment.
Support departments in review of budgeting operational objectives by studying business cost functions, gathering data and information, evaluating output requirements.
Monitor and reports cost and budget status as reported by departments through bi-weekly and monthly reports issued to General Manager (GM), highlighting projects with cost overruns.
Maintain and enhance procedures used to track and monitor project cost and overall department contract performance reports.
Monitor and review projects actual expenditures against budget costs included in operating plans, business plans, mid and year end accountability.
