We are seeking a Senior Industrial Hygienist to join the Workplace Environment Division of Environmental Protection Department.
The Workplace Environment Division is responsible for providing high quality support to Saudi Aramco facility management and employees in the prevention of workplace health hazards and assure that its operations do not create undue risks to Saudi Aramco employees.
The Senior Industrial Hygienist primary role is to support industrial hygiene activities to protect employees’ health from workplace health hazards, perform a wide variety of industrial Hygiene compliance activities for Saudi Aramco and its associated facilities.
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or Engineering degree or closely related field from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree in industrial hygiene is preferred.
The candidate should have twelve years-experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health or associated environmental activities including at least nine years-experience in industrial hygiene.
The candidate shall be certified from a recognized professional organization/society that represents industrial hygienists.
The candidate must be able to speak, write and present reports or articles in English using both scientifically correct terminology and terms acceptable at various intellectual levels.
The candidate is required to obtain a valid driver’s license and have met company requirements to operate a Saudi Aramco vehicle.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Plan, schedule, and provide work direction to less experienced industrial hygienists and to other groups formed to implement and monitor Saudi Aramco environmental policies and compliance.
Formulate the basis for studies related to industrial hygiene, occupational health, ventilation, toxicology, acoustics, ergonomics, chemical practice and hazard communication.
Initiate detailed work studies and determine basic approach, processes and/or equipment for environmental compliance inspections. Monitor sampling programs and evaluate measurements.
Consolidate all elements of research and data analysis, ascertaining that all elements are coordinated properly in terms of scope, manning and scheduling, and initiate corrective action as required.
Responsible for the technical quality of data and its evaluation.
Develop advanced professional and scientific methodology to be employed to identify and evaluate environmental or occupational hazards.
Advise Saudi Aramco organizations, and upon request, the local government on the risks of hazards and their management.
Develop and monitor the effectiveness of intervention strategies.
Provide educational guidance and direction to personnel who may be potentially exposed to hazards in the work environment.
Discuss, evaluate, coordinate and resolve environmental compliance issues and problems that have potential impacts on Saudi Aramco operations.
Act as a technical adviser in Occupational Hygiene.
Evaluate the effectiveness of occupational hygiene awareness and education courses developed to promote sound occupational hygiene practices in the environment.
Develop presentations for management and articles for company and professional publications on environmental issues that affect facilities.
Develop design standards, general instructions, engineering standards and procedures related to the control of environmental and occupational hazards.
Develop formal scientific reports and coordinates the preparation of reports
written by subordinates within the unit.
Write policies and procedures that are relevant to occupational health in Saudi Aramco and affiliated facilities.
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company’s new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry. Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities. Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works. E&PM also manages the Company’s Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots™) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.
