Position Description:
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Commercialization and Technology Deployment Planning Specialist to join the Technology Strategy & Planning Department (TS&PD).
TS&PD is responsible for developing Saudi Aramco’s technology outlook and strategy, managing the technology portfolio and intellectual property, supporting the Company’s climate and sustainability initiatives, and ensuring the commercial viability of technologies through effective deployment planning. TS&PD develops technology commercialization and related execution plans to help align Saudi Aramco’s R&D investment with strategy and value-driven technology deployments that can position the Company with a sustainable competitive advantage, capitalizing on its strategic and core business R&D investments.
You will assume a key role in designing, piloting and implementing the Company’s enhanced technology management processes in selected R&D organizations, with direct accountability for the corporate stage-gate process. You will be expected to provide leadership in the development, implementation, governance and sustainable capability needed to support full integration of the stage-gate process in R&D. You will ultimately champion the stage-gate process across the rest of Saudi Aramco R&D organizations, with the goal that the process be institutionalized as a corporate standard process, across all areas where Saudi Aramco undertakes internal technology development.
In addition, your role will have specific focus on the development and standardization of the deployment planning elements of the stage-gate process. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of standard processes, tools and methodologies to support the development of partnering strategies, supply chain development, and commercial frameworks, to maximize the delivery of value from Saudi Aramco’s portfolio of internally developed technologies, and create compelling business investment opportunities. These activities will lead to the development of a “Commercial Lead” resource pool within the organization, through training, ongoing support, coaching, and mentoring, to support the development of a long-term sustainable capability model.
You will be required to work closely with R&D staff, technology management, business partners, and supporting corporate functions, to ensure alignment across all areas and to support a smooth transition and adoption of the enhanced processes. You must have sufficient understanding and expertise across the “Strategy-to-Value” technology lifecycle, including R&D and IP strategy, engineering, scale-up, project development, economic evaluation, supply chain development, risk evaluation and mitigation, as well as strategy and business development. In addition, you will serve as a Commercial Lead on a selected number of high-priority technologies.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate you will have a bachelor degree in a Science/Engineering discipline. An advanced degree (MBA/Finance) is preferred.
You will have 15+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years within the field of technology business creation and partnering.

You will demonstrate proven experience and expertise in commercial technology development and / or venturing, preferably with a wide range of industrial experience and expertise across variety of technology-driven industries.
You will also possess subject matter expertise, thought leadership skills, business acumen and effective change management skills. The ability to articulate an in-depth understanding — of oil and gas, chemicals and related industries — is required. Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively work in a multidisciplinary team-oriented environment is essential for success.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:

Serve as process owner for the corporate stage-gate (generaI instruction document), including ongoing implementation to support technology development and deployment initiatives, and transition to sustainable operations.

Responsible for auditing of the application of operational stage-gate practices to monitor compliance and capability across the Company.

Provide direct coaching and mentoring of practitioners and the creation of in-depth training programs to create a sustainable capability build within this activity area.

Create and oversee the development of the Commercial Lead role in support of the stage-gate process incorporating, as a minimum, the activities of IP and commercial strategy, supply chain development, deployment planning, economics, and business case development.

Undertake the responsibility of the Commercial Lead to selected high priority projects, via development of business case and deployment strategies.

Ability to understand and interact between technical scientist, functional specialist, and commercial business lines, to ensure alignment and provide solutions across technical and commercial issues.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to fully engage and actively debate and persuade across all levels of the organization, including executive management.

Support IP strategy for new technology programs (i.e., develop deployment strategy, business model, etc.).

Support financial reporting for deployed technologies to ensure value capture.
