Position Description:
We are seeking a senior chemist or a geochemist with expertise in analyzing geological samples using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) techniques to join the Technical Services Division of our Research & Development Center.

The Technical Services Division is responsible for providing added-value technical support, introducing cost-effective technologies, and conducting advanced analytical characterizations for Saudi Aramco upstream and downstream operations as well as the research teams to increase the competitive advantage of the Company, maximize profitability, improve asset integrity, and protect health and the environment.

Your primary role is to lead the XRD crystallography lab in support of materials characterization team, develop analytical methods, mentor young scientists, and interact with proponents to solve out their analytical and operational challenges through the available resources.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate, you will hold a master’s degree in petroleum geology or analytical chemistry from a recognized and approved program. A Ph.D. degree is preferred.

You will have at least 10 years of experience in geological and advanced material characterizations, including at least five years in XRD techniques and familiarization with the Rietveld refinement methods.

You should have publication records demonstrating your mastery skills in X-Ray characterization relevant to petroleum industry.

You should have good experience in quality management programs such ISO/IEC 17025.

Membership in international committees and technical forums are preferable.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:

Perform advanced characterizations using XRD techniques on various matrix of samples such as geological samples, catalysts, corrosion products, scale deposit, and drilling additives.

Carry out advanced XRD characterizations including crystallite size and strain, XRD texture, and residual stress analysis.

Develop new analytical methods and seek their accreditation to meet the customers’ needs.

Practice project management tools in setting project objectives, detailing experimental scope, and managing the requested fund.
