We are seeking for IT System Specialist to join the Petroleum Engineering Application Service Department (PEASD), under Exploration & Petroleum Engineering Computer Center (EXPEC)
PEASD is the computing applications and support services provider upstream organizations to enable their mission.
As a successful candidate, you should hold a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, earth science, computer science or closely related field. MSc or PhD is desirable.
You must have the knowledge base of the latest developments in computer science or petroleum engineering technology through work experience, conferences, seminars and professional journals
You must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience, including direct experience related to petroleum engineering computer applications development and support.
You must have outstanding analytical abilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You are expected to be able to provide the following:
Provide expert advice, planning and support to petroleum engineering and ECC (EXPEC Computer Center) management on the technical validity of proposed petroleum engineering projects and the requirements for computer hardware and software to successfully complete those projects.
Review existing hardware and software components to insure they are technically valid in a petroleum engineering computing environment and they represent the most appropriate computer solution available within the currently available computer technology.
Maintain an extensive, detailed and current knowledge of changes in petroleum engineering technology and the application of computers to the solution of problems in that area.
Participate in the activities of technical and professional societies; serve on working committees within such groups; may attend international conferences.
