Gas Processing Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Gas Processing Engineering Specialist to join the Upstream Process Engineering Division of the Process & Control Systems Department.
The Upstream Process Engineering Division is responsible for providing engineering expertise in the processing of natural gas and light hydrocarbons, production, and stabilization of crude oil and simulation of pipelines and processes.
The Gas Processing Engineering Specialist’s primary role is to perform technical studies, and provide technical solutions to capital projects and plant operations.
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a recognized and approved program. An M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering or other advanced professional engineering degree is highly desirable. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration is highly preferred.
You must have 10 years of work experience in gas processing, including at least 5 years in plant operations handling amine sweetening, sulfur recovery, dehydration, hydrate inhibition, NGL recovery, or NGL fractionation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Provide expert advice and assistance to Company organizations, outside vendors, manufacturers, and design firms on matters relating to your area of expertise.
Originate and carry out engineering studies to determine potential problems and remedies to existing problems, resolve complex technical problems, increase revenue, optimize processes, protect the environment, or improve safety.
Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and Design Best Practices, Design Manuals or other documentation to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.
Evaluate and introduce best practices and new technologies from all over the world to help the Company achieve best-in-class positions in the oil business.
Review and evaluate the capabilities of vendors and contractors to determine their ability to perform major services to Aramco.
Act as Aramco’s representative in dealings with vendors and manufacturers pertaining to your field of experience.
Work with, or as a member of, task forces assigned to investigate incidents or solve specific problems.
Perform cost analysis and value engineering studies as appropriate.
Undertake special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.
Conduct economic studies and cost analysis of different gas processing systems of both gas plants and refineries.
Develop plans for reviewing and incorporating new technologies in Saudi Aramco plants.
Conduct simulations studies using Saudi Aramco licensed process simulation software packages such as HYSYS, Promax, and Sulsim.
Deliver presentations to an international audience of experts and publish technical papers.
Mentor Saudi Arab engineers and junior gas processing specialists.
Conduct seminars in the resolution of technical problems with personnel in other Engineering organizations.
Publish technical papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects you have overseen.
Promote a learning environment and implement self-development to maintain and improve expert status within your engineering specialty.
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company’s new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry. Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities. Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works. E&PM also manages the Company’s Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots™) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.
