We are seeking a Geospatial Analyst to join the Remote Sensing Services Group (RSSG) of the Geomatics Services Division (GSD), which is part of the Project Management Office Department.
The RSSG is responsible for providing effective and value-added remote sensing solutions, information extraction and geospatial analysis, and satellite image services to support Saudi Aramco projects and operations.
The primary role of the Geospatial Analyst is to provide advanced geospatial satellite-based remote sensing, image interpretation, image classification, and image processing.
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree in a geomatics-related field including geographical information systems, remote sensing, or Earth science (geography/geology), or related engineering from a recognized and approved program. Candidates holding a master’s degrees are highly preferred.
You will have minimum of generally seven (7) years diversified in GIS and remote sensing with satellite-based remote sensing, image interpretation, and image-processing techniques; including at least 5 years in geological remote sensing relevant to the oil and gas industry.
You must have experience with very high spatial resolution satellite product imagery, including acquisition and archiving procedures.
You will have recent experience with remote sensing satellite mission operations and data characteristics.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and experience with remote sensing techniques including change detection, image classification, image calibration, rectification, sub-pixel analysis, and familiarity with statistical analysis.
You will also have knowledge of GIS and its integration with remote sensing.
Experience with major image interpretation software such as ERDAS IMAGINE, ERDAS ERMapper, Trimble eCognition, Harris ENVI, PCI Geomatics, and ESRI Raster Analytics is necessary.
You must have a high level of synthesis and ability to integrate remotely sensed data with a wide range of themes to generate underlying patterns and trends.
Proficiency handling and analyzing large geo-datasets is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Analyze data acquired from aircraft, satellites, or ground-based platforms, using image analysis software, or geographic information systems (GIS) to obtain meaningful results.
Process aerial or satellite imagery to create products such as land cover maps or other visual displays.
Develop or build databases for remote sensing or related geospatial project information and integrate other geospatial data sources into projects.
Discuss project goals, sensor requirements, or methodologies with colleagues or team members.
Attend meetings or seminars, or read current literature to maintain knowledge of developments in the field of remote sensing and review professional literature to maintain professional knowledge.
Prepare or deliver reports or presentations of geospatial project information.
Evaluate new technologies or methods or conduct research into the application related to remote sensing technology.
Participate in fieldwork to collect geographical or geological field data to corroborate remote sensing data analyses.
Train technicians in the use of remote sensing technology.
Direct all activity associated with implementation, operation, or enhancement of remote sensing projects
Recommend new remote sensing hardware or software acquisitions and advise others on the development or use of new technologies.
Direct the installation or testing of new remote sensing hardware or software.
Develop automated routines or applications for scientific or technical use.
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company’s new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry. Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities. Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works. E&PM also manages the Company’s Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots™) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.
