Req Number: 16948BR
We are seeking a Composite Materials Development Expert to join the Oil & Gas Network Integrity (O&GNI) Research & Development Division at the Research and Development Center.
The Oil & Gas Network Integrity Division (OGNI) Research & Development Division is responsible for providing innovative solutions to enhance the reliability and improve the performance of the Company’s operating assets. Within this ambit, particular focus is placed on the expansion of the operating envelope of nonmetallic composite materials to reduce costs associated with corrosion and to capitalize on expansion along the hydrocarbon value chain.
The OGNI Research & Development Division is seeking an experienced specialist to develop a new generation of composite materials for Oil & Gas (O&G) applications focusing on advanced nonmetallic piles and liners.
As the successful candidate, you will possess a strong technical competency to identify current technical challenges in this area, propose new research projects to tackle these challenges, develop new synthetic methods and fabrication procedures for novel materials or composite systems with enhanced performance, as well as work as part of a team to perform characterizations and testing of advanced composites systems, to evaluate and qualify new technologies. You will also be familiar with international standards on testing and qualification of nonmetallic products used in the O&G sector (pipes, risers, liners, fittings, etc). You must have hands-on experience on developing testing and qualification protocols, as well as knowledge of common and arising manufacturing processes (such as filament winding, automated tape placement, additive manufacturing and on-site manufacturing) used in the composites pipe industry. You will develop research programs with clear business plans and financial analysis of new proposed technologies.
As the successful candidate, you should hold a PhD degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on nonmetallics from a recognized and approved program.
You will have at least 15 years of industrial or academic experience, including at least 10 years of experience working on composite materials.
You must have a record of publications in recognized international peer-reviewed journals, as well as noticeable experience in business planning and techno-economic evaluations. Outstanding communication skills in English are a requirement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Propose new research programs and develop research strategies to expand the operating envelope of nonmetallic composite materials in O&G applications.
Identify new trends for the applications of nonmetallic material within the Oil & Gas industry and lead collaborative R&D projects toward enabling such applications.
Establish and manage collaborations with other units, departments, and external partners to accelerate the achievement of goals and maximize the impact of the research programs.
Develop, perform, and lead the synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of novel composite or nonmetallic materials used for high-temperature, high-pressure applications.
You must be aware of the economic implication of any scientific and technical aspects of the ongoing research programs.
You must remain up to date with the current development in the field to be able to publish technical findings in international peer-reviewed journals and to write patents.
