We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage Expert to join our Carbon Management Division (CMD) of the Research and Development Center.
The CMD is responsible for pursuing research programs in the area of carbon management technological solutions, from both stationary and mobile sources, through CO2 capture, utilization, conversion, and storage, through reducing the carbon footprint on all conversion processes by efficiency improvements, using advanced next generation technologies and approaches.
Your primary role will be to design, fabricate, and test energy storage systems with specific requirements. You must have competency to use data-driven methods for advancing the understanding of electrochemical system performance for energy storage systems, to improve round-trip efficiency and core scientific interactions that occur in energy storage systems, as power and energy demands increase.
As the successful candidate you will have a Ph.D. in materials science or electrochemistry, or a chemical engineering discipline.
You will have 10 years of industry experience and be recognized throughout the industry as a leading expert in energy storage.
You should have a good understanding of electrochemistry, process modeling, fluid flow, and heat transfer principles, expertize in synthesizing inorganic electrode materials and ceramic solid electrolytes for rechargeable energy storage systems, and expertize in the use of electrochemical techniques, such as cell cycling tests, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and spectro-electrochemistry, to investigate kinetic and thermodynamic properties of battery materials, phase transformations, and the interfacial phenomena that occur between the electrode and electrolyte.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Complete advanced diagnostic studies to probe key phenomena and reactions, particularly with the use of electron microscopic and synchrotron-related spectroscopic techniques. Other techniques may include x-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric and calorimetric analysis, visible-UV, infrared, and Raman spectroscopy.
Perform complex data analysis and interpret experimental results.
Prepare manuscripts, reports, and business cases.
Publish research findings in high-impact peer reviewed technical journals and conferences; and stay current on recent research in the field by reading published literature.
Develop special long-term research projects to keep the balance between research and focused development for problem solving. Approach operational problems with a broad perspective to ensure that R&D remains a relevant capital investment, meeting specific value targets.
Provide leadership in research and development efforts. Determine areas of research, based on advanced technologies and changing expectations of proponents.
