Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Analyst to join our Geophysical Applications Division (GAD) under Exploration Applications Services Department (EASD).

GAD provides all necessary support for Geophysical applications and systems to allow the most efficient and cost effective means to process, model, analyze 2D and 3D seismic data. GAD supports, develops and maintains Geophysical Seismic Processing related applications utilized by Upstream’s Exploration Organization. We perform In-house code development, environment optimization and third party Vendor software support, utilizing the EXPEC Computer Centers’ high performance computing systems and scientific workstations.

Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor Degree in Geosciences and/or Computer Science.

10 years of experience in Geosciences and HPC Application development, administration and support.

Experience in application development with HPC characteristics (i.e. multi CPU/GPU intensive, memory hungry, huge data volume, high network interactions/data movement) such as code optimization HPC geophysical application.

GPU development experience including porting a high compute intensive geophysical algorithm (i.e. depth migration) onto GPU architecture.

Experience with seismic processing applications and High Performance Computing.

Programming skills ( C/C++, Fortran), GPU acceleration and Unix/Linux background.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You are expected to be able to perform the following:

Recommend and conduct studies on the extension of computing technology into profitable areas of Geophysical Processing and Interpretation technical activities. In conjunction with Exploration customer representatives, determines opportunities for computer assistance.

Act as project leader on Geophysical Processing and Interpretation systems projects. Prepare proposals for a higher management.

Endorsement on technical applications where initial study has determined a high degree of operational feasibility is involved.

Initiate and conduct continuous research into advanced systems concepts and latest developments in techniques and applications pertaining to Geophysical Processing and Interpretation systems.

Participate in activities of technical societies and keep abreast of advancements in Geological/Geophysical mapping, modeling and data display techniques applicable to the area of organizational responsibility.

Advise on internal department work procedures to promote increased productivity and efficiencies.
