Saudi Aramco, long known for its leadership in oil exploration, production and refining is seeking to hire an experienced Instrument Engineer Specialized in Analyzers to join our growing Unconventional Resources (UR) program.
UR Gas Operations Development operates the surface facilities at UR fields in the North and South of the country. The Engineering Division within this department provides the support to both operating facilities and ongoing projects.
As a subject-matter expert you will represent UR in dealing with vendors, manufacturers, and/or design firms where expertise on analyzers is required. You will also be expected to leads the team to support the operation and maintenance of analyzers and gas plant laboratory.
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. A master’s degree or a Ph.D. in engineering is highly desirable as well as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration.
You will have at least 15 years of professional experience in the field of instrumentation engineering including 10 years as an engineer in charge of technical work in analyzers and laboratories.
Experience working with unconventional resources would be an advantage.
You must have achieved industry recognition through activities in professional societies and industrial organizations, such as ASME, ASCE, ASTM, API, NACE, SEI, and others.
You should have experience in projects support, commissioning and pre-commissioning.
As well as experience operating and performing maintenance and troubleshooting of different types and technologies of analyzers including:
pH and Conductivity analyzers
Hydrogen, Hydrogen Purity and Hydrogen Sulfide analyzers
UV Photometer analyzers
Physical Property analyzers
Infra-Red and Non-Dispersive IR analyzers
Oil in Water analyzer
Wobbe Index and Heating Value analyzers
Hydrogen Sulfide in Water analyzers
You must also have experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting sampling systems including Sample Probes, Sample Transport Lines, Sample Conditioning Systems and Sample Recovery.
You must have experience working with Analyzer Management Systems (AMS).
You must have experience and understanding the fundamentals of working in Laboratories.
You must have a working knowledge and ability to interpret and apply industry codes and standards.
You should be familiar with different and the latest technologies in the industry.
You will have the ability to analyze situation, identify problems and recommend solutions.
You are expected to work in remote and hazardous areas depending on the project or field you are assigned to and you are expected to ensure full HSE compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Provide day-to-day technical support to the Operation and Maintenance groups to troubleshoot and fix any encountered problems with analyzers, sampling systems, analyzer management systems and laboratories in addition to other Instrumentation systems. Perform essential operation and maintenance tasks that require engineering support and complex troubleshooting.
Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel to maintain, calibrate and run analyzers.
Act as a professional mentor to less senior specialists and engineers and assist in their training and development.
Collect and analyze data for incident and system performance review.
Assess the performance of analyzers and validate if the systems are working properly and producing the required results and assess the availability of the system.
Review, develop, maintain and update lifecycle road maps, Operating Instruction Manuals, Preventative Maintenance procedures, calibration procedures and manual sampling procedures.
Identify spare parts and consumables requirements according to manufacturer requirements.
Report and analyze key performance indices.
Support in the development, commissioning and operation of gas plant laboratories.
Follow standard operating procedures for documentation of issues and resolution.
Participate in FAT, IFAT, SAT, Pre-Commissioning and commissioning activities of new systems.
Participate in the review and evaluation of project proposals, design packages, data sheets, specifications and selected technologies for analyzers, sampling systems, analyzers management systems, purge requirements, process flow requirements, calibration, carrier gas requirements and analyzers housing for new and upgrade projects.
Assist in identifying the data required from each analyzer and how to interpret the data and incorporate it in the facilities operation.
Provide expert advice and assistance to the UR, outside vendors, manufacturers and design firms on instrument engineering, analyzers and laboratories matters.
Originate and carry out engineering studies to determine potential problems and remedies to existing problems, resolve complex technical problems and review data sheets for analyzers.
Evaluate and introduce best practices and new technologies from all over the world to help the UR to achieve best in class positions.
Review and evaluate the capabilities of vendors and contractors to determine their acceptability to perform major services to UR. Act as the department representative with vendors and manufacturers.
Work on or with task forces assigned to investigate incidents or solve specific problems.
Perform capital planning, cost analyses and value engineering studies as appropriate.
Undertake special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.
Conduct seminars in the resolution of technical problems with personnel in other organizations.
Write papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects.
Provide analysis, evaluation and interpretation in support of projects, processes, and financing related to Saudi
Aramco capital investment decisions.
Provide management information in a timely, efficient manner.
Contribute to Business Unit strategy.
Maintain and expand on contacts within the industry.
