As one of the world’s largest fully integrated energy enterprises, Saudi Aramco not only looks for individuals who can meet our expectations, but for those individuals who can exceed them. Our intent is to become the world’s leading integrated energy company.
The Southern Area Reservoir Characterization Department is seeking a top Reservoir Characterization Geologist to join their world-class team.
As the successful candidate you will have the experience to conduct reservoir characterization on clastic and/or carbonate reservoirs, and perform geological and geophysical data analysis and integration at 1D (at well level) and 2D (spatially and vertically).
You will have in-depth experience to build and update 3D field models that include all penetrated reservoirs using various modelling packages. Provide well placement support through well planning, and executing and monitoring via utilization of the 3D field model.
As the successful candidate you will have a bachelor's degree in geology; while a master’s or Ph.D. is preferred.
You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience with 3D reservoir geological modeling. This experience will include practical exposure to reservoir characterization in sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, well planning, and coring and logging.
Experience with multiple software applications used in reservoir characterization, drilling operations, and field development studies is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Conduct reservoir characterization studies including log-to core integration and core description, mapping, sequence stratigraphy, and conceptual geological modeling.
Ensure that 3D field models capture reservoir complexity and highlight potential uncertainties.
Perform well placement with reservoir and drilling engineers through the utilization of 3D field models.
Prepare post-drilling analysis reports and update the 3D field model with new wells.
Integrate diverse datasets into 3D models for field development, well placement, reserve estimates, history matching, production forecasting, and risk assessments.
Work across multidisciplinary teams; and assess reservoir simulation and the upscaling techniques of geological models.
Saudi Aramco’s Exploration & Producing (E&P) business line oversees the world’s largest reserves of conventional crude oil, and the fourth-largest reserves of natural gas. The Company’s reserves portfolio include Ghawar, the world’s largest onshore oil field, and Safaniya, the largest offshore field. Company geologists are actively seeking additional reserves in many areas of the Kingdom, offshore in the Gulf and the Red Sea and onshore in the deserts and mountains. Petroleum engineers and earth scientists in E&P work with cutting-edge technology to manage and produce these reserves, including 3D visualization, reservoir simulation and remote geosteering of multilateral wells. The Company’s Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center, or EXPEC, is home to one of the industry’s most powerful computer centers. Research and development into subsurface upstream technology is conducted at the EXPEC Advanced Research Center. For more than two decades in a row, Saudi Aramco has been ranked the No. 1 oil company in the world by Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the men and women of Exploration & Producing.
