We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to join the Northern Area Oil Operations (NAOO) Business Support Division, to support NAOO organizations with process and technical safety matters.
The engineer will provide on-site guidance to guarantee understanding and compliance with the latest industry codes, standards and government regulations while delivering safe and cost effective solutions tailored to company operational requirements.
The engineer will focus on onshore and offshore oil and gas processing plants (including wellheads and flow lines) and associated facilities. The job requires routine visits to the field.
As a successful candidate, you should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline from a recognized and approved institution. A higher qualification is desirable.
Professional membership and certification with a reputable organization such as CSP, IOSH, IIRSM, IChemE, etc. is desired.
You must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in hydrocarbon, petrochemicals, or related industries, including a strong background in safety proven results. The experience should include areas such as operations maintenance, plant engineering, safety program development, and process safety management.
You should have the knowledge of international codes and standards, engineering practices and economic principles, as well as industry fire code and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You are expected to be able to perform the following:
Provide engineering expertise in the resolution of plant operation problems. Formulate and implement long-term strategies to improve operations and reduce costs.
Participate in developing and promoting on/off-job safety educational programs, to address safety issues or concerns.
Participate in or lead various safety studies/activities, such as PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, or audits.
Participate in standards reviews to ensure inclusion of requirements that are of practical benefit to field operation and maintenance, in regards to safety and efficiency of the plants.
Develop processes and procedures to comply with corporate standards and work closely with NAOO departments to implement these processes, measure implementation effectiveness and recommend further improvement solutions to the AA management.
Provide technical assistance and advice covering but not limited to safety management systems, process safety, fire prevention, quantitative risk analysis and behavioral safety to ensure minimization of losses and prevention of fires.
Ensure that plant designs comply with standards, cost competitive, viable, and meet operational safety requirements.
Review waiver requests for non-compliant design and construction and provide technical advice for satisfactory resolution.
