We are seeking a Business Development and Transaction Origination Specialist to join New Business Development (NBD).
NBD is responsible for creating new business opportunities for the Company while also contributing to the Kingdom’s economic growth. Our successes have focused on the development of Mega Projects in Refining and Petrochemicals and we continue on pursuing initiatives seeking ambitious contributions that strengthen, enhance and expand the Company’s operations and value chain and contribute to Kingdom’s economic growth. The position will be based in Transaction Origination organization which is mandated to initiate new ideas and opportunities for the Company in diversified non-core sectors to protect, enhance and expand its core operations.
Your primary responsibility is to uncovering business opportunities, lead the idea initiation and manage the development of new initiatives through the Company origination development process. The ideas and opportunities may including mergers and acquisitions, the creation of joint ventures and divestment activities. You will conduct internal/external assessments to reveal emerging trends that would impact the Company’s business. You will apply your strong analytical ability to convert raw data/information into intelligence to uncover business opportunities at their early stage. This requires the specialist to possess a sufficient level of understanding of different technical/technological subjects covering a wide selection of industries. As an initial deliverable, you will present business ideas with a sufficient level of analysis to a review committee to advance them into business opportunities. Once the business cases are approved, you will hand over the work to a transaction execution team to structure the deals, which is not part of the specialist’s scope of work.
You should have strong interpersonal skills with gravitas to work with people to enable the applicant to collaborate effectively and efficiently across internal and external stakeholders that allows robust communication protocol to execute and realize the opportunity. You should bring strong financial analytical skills with a successful track record of complex deal origination and execution. Also, you must be willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia and travel as required by business needs.
A bachelor’s degree in a technical field or in finance with an MBA or a professional certification, such as CFA.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience of M&A, JV and greenfield investment transactions in Corporate M&A and/or Private Equity firms coupled with demonstrated leadership and accomplished track records of transaction delivery.
If an MBA or a professional certification is not available, 20 years of relevant experience is required.
Proven high potential and strong commercial acumen, effective leader with the drive to achieve results and quickly form relationships.
The gravitas of being meticulous where necessary with the ability to look at the big picture, hands on approach to influence at all levels; ownership of people, processes and systems with an industry reputation of a leader who delivers.
The ability to define clear priorities in a multi-transaction environment.
Excellent proficiency in oral and written English as this is key characteristic for the role with coaching and mentoring skills.
Ability to make impromptu presentations to Management and key stakeholders as desired.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Generate business ideas and assess their feasibility.
Engage with various internal/external entities to be up-to-date on business trends.
Conduct desktop market research as well as use market intelligence tools.
Champion Transaction Origination by applying expertise to ensure compliance across transactions is succinct and effective.
Develop various financial models and review ones developed by others.
Produce briefs and reports on companies, industries, and sectors.
Present your own market research and business cases to various management levels.
Continuously review and enhance the business origination process with best practices.
Troubleshoot proactively to find optimal solutions and directs the way forward both internally and negotiations with potential partners.
Expedite and facilitating efficient and effective decision making for Management.
Lead and support activities to progress opportunities through a structured approach of stage gates to deal handover to the transaction execution team.
Mentor junior employees on the business origination process.
Hold occasional workshops on elements of the business origination process.
Participate briefly in the transaction process at handover of business cases to a transaction team.
Participate in ad-hoc committees and task forces that may or may not relate to the described position.
