Saudi Aramco is seeking a Contracts Advisor to join the Contracts Administration Group within the Technical Support Group of the Research & Development Center (R&DC). The Contracts Group typically processes multiple contract actions “long, mid and short form contracts,” most of which are related to research type.
The Contracts Advisor’s (I) primary role is to provide leadership and work direction to a team of 7-10 employees in the Contracts Administration Group. The candidate will also serve as the Contract Proponent Representative in the development and administration of assigned contracts. The Contracts Advisor initiates guidelines, coordinates activities, and provides technical expertise to assure the proper and timely development and/or maintenance and administration of contracts, maintains conformity to the accepted corporate contracting policies and procedures, and meets the proponent technical/operational requirements in a timely and most cost-effective manner.
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in an engineering, law or business discipline. An accredited professional qualification in Contracting, MBA or Master of Law qualification is desirable.
You will have at least 10 years of relevant experience in the petroleum or related industry within the corporate contracts management department. A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in managing/leading a contract procurement team is desirable.
A high level of fluency in oral and written English is essential. Strong influencing skills and the ability to motivate team members and to communicate exceptionally well, both orally and in writing, with professionals in cross functional teams and with senior and executive management both within and outside the Company is essential. A strong sense of accountability and the ability to determine actions, risks and results to get the job done is important.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• You are expected to provide leadership and contribute to the development and review of contracting plans, contracting policies and procedures, market engagement approaches, evaluation criteria and methodologies, terms and conditions of contracts, and award recommendations; provide complex technical advice and support to contract proponents from the conception of contract service requirements through the execution of a contract to the close out of the contract; develop scopes of work for various contract services, and participate in the development of financial, legal and technical advice on intent of wording, scope of service, evaluation methodologies and approaches, or other clauses that may impact cost and cost benefit relationship; and participate as the contract proponent representative in a professional analysis of bid response and negotiation of offers and preparation of counter offers. You will also lead, coach, motivate and provide work guidance to team members; resolve problems concerning contract development; resolve major contractual issues between suppliers/service providers and proponent organizations; develop and implements a performance management framework that contributes to overall key performance indicators; develop proactive contracting strategies for each service category based on analysis of the supplier or service provider market, service type and utilization. The candidate will also require to provide development and monitoring to junior employees.
